Joint Statement: Tahir Elçi Case Should Not End Up With Impunity

With his work, Tahir Elçi was one of the invaluable human rights defenders and lawyers in Turkey. We call for all the circumstances surrounding this killing, which deeply hurt the human rights movement in Turkey, to be fully brought into light; and all public officials who bear responsibility -whether by their acts or out of negligence- to be prosecuted in the case; and the killing of Tahir Elçi not to end up with impunity.

Joint Statement: Call to Release Pre-Trial Detainees in Turkey

37 rights-groups calls for reduction of pre-trial detention in Turkey and for the use of alternatives to detention, in order to reduce the danger of outbreaks of the COVID-19 disease, as a safety measure for the health and wellbeing of the penitentiary staff and detainees, and to avoid disproportionate isolation procedures inside prisons with this joint statement.
